January 2005 News
  • "Stencils in Four Early Pompey Homes and Two Churches" by Sylvia Berry Shoebridge-30 more books have been ordered.
  • NYS Regents letter-NYS states that a museum with an operating budget of less than $100,000 remains exempt from the mandatory number hours of operation.
  • Handicap update-continuation to explore ideas and costs for handicapped building access and bathroom renovation. The possibilities includes a wheelchair lift inside the entrance or an earthen ramp leading to the building.
  • Sylvia Shoebridge (Historian emeritus) is researching Jacquard Coverlets made for people in Pompey from the 1830's.
  • Footsteps In Time-the first load of bricks are on their way to be engraved and will be placed in a 25 x 25 foot patio this year.

2005 Program and Events

March/April/May-
  • Placement of permanent flagpole and creation of the LaPoint memorial garden
  • Excavation and erection of the Jerome Rooms storage and exhibition building. Ribbon cutting ceremony featuring William G. Pomeroy, date TBA.
  • Creation of a Heritage Garden by Jim Alexander featuring heirloom vegetables.
April -Arbor Day ceremony honoring Ginny Spina, with a tree to be placed in the LaPoint memorial Garden by the Garden Center Association.

May or September-Bob Goods collection of military memorabilia on display

June 4th-Saturday, 11 am. hosting of the Plant Exchange- Potluck lunch. Public invited to attend.. For information email  Lynn Hale

2005 Continuing Presence Program-Delphi Falls painter John Calvin Perry (1837-1894) and his continuing presence with great great great granddaughter Tara Pease McClung. Her paternal grandfather, William Pease, will also have paintings.  He is the great grandson of JCP. A proposed third Wednesday in May 2005 program at the Delphi Falls Church followed by an exhibition at the William G. Pomeroy Reasearch Center and Museum.

July 1st-Friday night weekend kick-off, Strawberry Sociable and music on the green featuring the blue grass band, "A Diamond Someday". A Family Fun night: Kids events and horse rides.

August 6th-Art and Craft show-Chaired by Vaugn Ali. Featuring local artisans and high end crafts. Saturday, 10-5 pm.

August 18th and 19th-Thursday and Friday, 8 am-4 pm. Yes, this is the Bouckville weekend! PHS will again be having its annual YARD SALE. Bring your items for sale and sell them in a group setting. A percentage of sales price goes to the PHS. Contact   Gail Moreland

October 12th-Potluck dinner and Annual meeting-Bring a dish to pass and a place setting. Open to the public (bring a friend!). Location and program to be announced.
